The White-Blues became the first team to lose their chances of reaching the playoffs of the European Cup ahead of schedule.
Head coach of Dynamo Kyiv Oleksandr Shovkovsky commented on the crushing defeat (0:3) from Spanish Real Sociedad in the match of the sixth round of the main stage of the Europa League of the 2024/25 season.
According to the official website of the “white-blues”, Shovkovsky's post-match press conference consisted of one question and one short answer.
Having lost all six of its matches in the current season of the Europa League, Dynamo became the first team to lose their chances of reaching the playoffs ahead of schedule.
– What did you say to the players in the locker room after the first half?
– I made comments about those moments that we had, and told us to play as we had initially agreed.
After six rounds, the Kiev team occupies the last, 36th place in the overall standings of the main round of the Europa League. Dynamo remains the only participant in the tournament that has not yet scored a single point.
Ahead of the Kiev club, there are two more matches of the main round of the Europa League, which will take place next year: on January 21, the “white-blues” will play against Turkish Galatasaray, and on January 30, they will face Latvian RFS.
The eight best teams of the main stage of the Europa League will reach the 1/8 finals. The clubs that take places from 9th to 24th in the overall standings will play paired play-off matches for access to the 1/8 finals. The rest will finish their performance in European competitions.
