Lennox Lewis Comments on Usyk's Victory in Rematch Against Fury

Lennox Lewis commented on Usyk's victory in the rematch against Fury

The legendary Briton considers the Ukrainian's triumph to be fair.

Former undisputed world heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis commented on the victoryWBA, WBO, WBC and IBO title holder Alexander Usyk in a rematch with Tyson Fury.

The famous British boxer agreed that the judges fairly awarded the victory to the Ukrainian.

In his opinion, the “Gypsy King” should have shown himself better in order to win.

“It was a good fight. I wish Tyson had been a little more aggressive and a little more proactive in going after Usyk. Usyk won the first fight, so Tyson needed to go after him and have confidence that he would win the second fight.

The scorecards? I didn't hear the scorecards. Do you agree with who won? Yes. Maybe Fury thinks he won the fight. I don't know. I think he could have worked a little more.

Usyk hit him to the body with a few free shots, and those points counted. I think the judges saw that,” TNT Sports Boxing quotes Lennox as saying.

Usyk defeated Fury by unanimous decision. Following 12 rounds, all three referees declared the Ukrainian boxer's triumph: 116-112, 116-112, 116-112.

However, the Briton did not admit defeat to Usyk, stating that he was unfairly judged. The Ukrainian boxer has already reacted to these words of the “Gypsy King”.

Unlike the first fight, in the Usyk-Fury rematch the title of absolute world champion was not at stake, since Alexander had previously renounced the IBF title. Now it is owned by the Briton Daniel Dubois, who has already managed to defend it by knocking out his compatriot Anthony Joshua.

Recall that on the night of May 19, 2024, Usyk defeated Fury by split decision in a fight for the title of absolute world heavyweight champion. At the end of the ninth round, Alexander knocked his opponent down. The Ukrainian became the first absolute world heavyweight champion in the 21st century.
