Record sum for a Ukrainian: how much money Usyk and Fury earned for the rematch

The Ukrainian champion's fee was 114 million dollars.

On the night of December 22, Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk defeated Briton Tyson Fury in a rematch, defending his WBA, WBO, WBC and IBO world heavyweight titles.

The fight in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia ended with the victory of the Ukrainian boxer by unanimous decision of the judges: 116-112, 116-112, 116-112.

According to The Sportster, the total purse for the Usyk-Fury rematch was $190 million. Moreover, this amount will be distributed in a 60% to 40% ratio in favor of the winner of the first fight, in which the Ukrainian defeated the Briton by split decision.

Thus, Usyk earned $114 million for the rematch. This is a record purse in his career. The “Gypsy King” got rich in the second fight against the Ukrainian by 76 million dollars.

It should be noted that these are guaranteed fees for the boxers, not dependent on the results of the pay-per-view (PPV) sales of the fight.

Recall that for the first face-to-face fight, which took place on May 19, 2024 in Riyadh, the boxers earned 150 million dollars between them. The distribution of money was 70% to 30% in favor of the Briton.

That is, Fury's fee for the first fight was $105 million – this amount remains a record in the Briton's career. Usyk then received $45 million.

So, for two fights, Usyk earned a total of $159 million, Fury – $181 million.

Earlier it was reported that the Briton did not admit defeat to Usyk, stating that he was unfairly judged. The Ukrainian boxer has already responded to these words of the “Gypsy King”.

Unlike the first fight, in the Usyk-Fury rematch the title of absolute world champion was not at stake, since Alexander had previously given up the IBF title. Now it is owned by Briton Daniel Dubois, who has already managed to defend it by knocking out his compatriot Anthony Joshua.

Having won the first fight, Alexander defended the WBO, WBA, IBO and IBF belts, and also took the WBC title from the “Gypsy King”. Usyk became the first absolute world champion in the heavyweight division in the 21st century.
