Usyk's promoter comments on possible rematch between Ukrainian champion and Dubois

Usyk's promoter comments on possible rematch between Ukrainian champion and Dubois

Alexander Krasyuk wants Usyk to become a three-time absolute champion.

Alexander Krasyuk, promoter of WBC, WBO, WBA and IBO heavyweight champion Alexander Usyk, spoke about a possible rematch between the Ukrainian and the title holder IBF Briton Daniel Dubois.

He said he wants Usyk to become a three-time absolute champion.

“It's not about what I would like, but about what the boxing world, boxing fans want to see. If they want to see this fight, great. Frankly, I would like to see Usyk as a three-time absolute champion,” Krasyuk said in an interview with iFL TV.

We will add that earlier, the head of the General Authority of Entertainment of Saudi Arabia, Turki Al ash-Sheikh, who organized both fights between Usyk and Tyson Fury, expressed a desire to organize a fight between Alexander and Dubois, but named the condition. First, Daniel must defend his IBF belt in a fight with New Zealander Joseph Parker, which is scheduled for February 22, 2025 in Riyadh.

In turn, Usyk's promoter doubts that Dubois will defeat Parker. He also said that he does not yet know what the Ukrainian champion's next steps will be.

“Does Usyk's team want to see a rematch between Usyk and Dubois? Yes, of course. On the other hand, I'm not so sure that Dubois can beat Parker. I'd bet on Joseph in this pair.

What could be next for Alexander? He could go back to the cruiserweight, he could become a two- or three-time absolute champion, he could do whatever he wants. He could become a world champion in belly dancing. I have no idea, it's up to him. Whatever he wants, that's what he'll do,” Krasyuk said in a commentary to The Stomping Ground.

After the victory of the Ukrainian over Tyson Fury in the rematch, Dubois climbed into the ring and challenged Usyk to a duel. Alexander accepted the challenge and asked to organize a fight with Daniel.

Note that on the night of August 27, 2023, Usyk knocked outDubois in the ninth round and defended his WBO, WBA, IBO and IBF heavyweight titles. The potential rematch between Alexander and Daniel could see the title of absolute world champion at stake.

Usyk has 23 wins (14 by knockout) in 23 fights. He fought seven of them in the heavyweight division. Before that, Alexander became the absolute world champion in the cruiserweight division (weight category up to 90.7 kg), having won all four of the most prestigious belts there.

Fury did not admit defeat to Usyk, disagreeing with the judges' verdict. The Ukrainian boxer reacted categorically to these words of the “Gypsy King”, stating that he had won a deserved victory.

Unlike the first fight, in the Usyk-Fury rematch the title of absolute world champion was not at stake, since Alexander had previously refused the IBF title. Now it is owned by the Briton Daniel Dubois, who has already managed to defend it by knocking out his compatriot Anthony Joshua.

Recall that on the night of May 19, 2024, Usyk defeated Fury by split decision in a fight for the title of absolute world heavyweight champion. At the end of the ninth round, Alexander knocked his opponent down.

Usyk became the first absolute world heavyweight champion in the 21st century and the first in history “absolute” heavyweight with four main titles – WBO, WBA, IBF and WBC.
