Earlier, CAS overturned the sanctions that the Ukrainian Football Association applied to Anatoliy.
Former captain and record holder for the number of matches for the Ukrainian national team Anatoliy Tymoshchuk, who won the court against the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF), during the hearing The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne has made another hypocritical statement.
Tymoshchuk assured that he is in favor of peace in Ukraine and is ready to voluntarily renounce all awards and the coaching license that the UAF had deprived him of if this would help restore peace.
In March 2022, the UAF struck Tymoshchuk out of the history of Ukrainian football for not stopping working on the coaching staff of St. Petersburg's Zenit after the start of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine and not condemning the actions of the terrorist state.
Anatoliy was stripped of all titles, awards, honorary titles, coaching license and was banned for life from football activities in Ukraine.
Tymoshchuk tried to appeal the deprivation of his football regalia in the UAF Appeals Committee, but failed. After that, he appealed to CAS, which in November of this year overturned the decision of the Ukrainian football authorities.
“I am for peace in my homeland. I want all parties to sit down at the negotiating table and find a consensus that will restore peace.
If the committee believes that my suspension, deprivation of regalia and coaching license will help restore peace, I am ready to give up everything myself.
But as a professional athlete, as a person for whom reputation in football is more than words, I will not allow myself to be used for political manipulation,” Tymoshchuk said in a statement published by CAS.
Recall that Tymoshchuk was the record holder for the number of matches played for the Ukrainian national team – 144 matches in the blue and yellow T-shirt.
In January 2023, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine imposed personal sanctions against Tymoshchuk for a period of 10 years. He was banned from entering Ukraine. He was also stripped of all state awards, does not have the right to receive land plots into ownership, all his assets – finances, movable and immovable property – were blocked.
In September 2024 Tymoshchuk donated a Zenit T-shirt with his autograph to an auction to help the Kursk region, where the Ukrainian Armed Forces are currently conducting an operation.
