"Didn't expect": Promoter condemns Dubois' brazen act after Usyk-Fury rematch (video)

Daniel unceremoniously interrupted the interview of the Ukrainian, who defeated the "Gypsy King" for the second time.

Frank Warren, promoter of IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois commented on his actions after the victoryWBC, WBA, WBO and IBO title holder Oleksandr Usyk in a rematch with Tyson Fury.

According to Warren, he didn't like the fact that Dubois got into the ring and grabbed the microphone, challenging the Ukrainian to a fight. The promoter emphasized that Daniel has a tough fight ahead against Joseph Parker, which his client should focus on.

“He came into the ring, I didn't expect him to grab the microphone and I didn't like it very much. But he did what a lot of fighters have done in the past, where they challenged their opponents.

I don't think it was the right time to do it, but he did it. So what can I do? Nothing. Daniel has a tough fight coming up in February that he has to think about.

The main thing he has to worry about now is his fight against Joseph Parker, which will be tough for both of them. It's a good fight, and I'm looking forward to it. And after that, let's see what happens,” Warren told BoxNation.

It should be noted that Usyk accepted Dubois' challenge in the ring without hesitation and asked to organize a fight with the Briton.

The head of the Saudi Arabian General Authority for Entertainment, Turki Al ash-Sheikh, who organized both fights between Usyk and Fury, has already agreed to arrange a fight between Alexander and Dubois, but named the condition. Daniel must first defend his IBF belt against New Zealander Joseph Parker, which is scheduled for February 22, 2025 in Riyadh.

Let us recall that on the night of August 27, 2023, Usyk knocked out Dubois in the ninth round in Wroclaw, Poland, and defended his WBO, WBA, IBO, and IBF heavyweight world titles.

The potential rematch between Alexander and Daniel could see the title of absolute world champion at stake. Earlier, Alexander had to give up the IBF title, and therefore lose the “absolute” title. Now the IBF belt is in the hands of Dubois, who has already managed to defend it by knocking out another Briton, Anthony Joshua.

The 37-year-old Usyk has 23 wins (14 by knockout) in 23 fights. He fought seven of them in the heavyweight division. Before that, Alexander became the absolute world champion in the cruiserweight (weight category up to 90.7 kg), having won all four of the most prestigious belts there.

The 27-year-old Dubois has 22 wins (21 by knockout) in 24 fights. The Briton nicknamed “Dynamite” has two losses under his belt – from Joe Joyce in 2020 and from Usyk himself in 2023.
