Scored twice against Galatasaray: Yarmolenko sets Dynamo record in European competitions

Andriy became the oldest player to score for the “white-blues” in European competitions.

Dynamo Kyiv winger Andriy Yarmolenko set a record in the match of the seventh round of the main stage of the 2024/25 Europa League against Turkish Galatasaray.

Having entered the field at the start of the second half instead of Nazar Voloshin, the captain of the “white-blues” scored a double, scoring in the 68th and 81st minutes. This allowed the Ukrainian club to come back from 1:3 and bring the match to a draw (3:3).

Thus, Yarmolenko became the oldest player in the history of Dynamo to score for the club in European competitions.

Andriy scored a double against Galatasaray at the age of 35 years, 2 months and 29 days. This double was his first in European competitions as part of Dynamo.

Now Yarmolenko has 23 goals for the Kiev club in European tournaments. In this indicator, he has caught up with Maksym Shatskikh. Only Serhiy Rebrov (31) and Andriy Shevchenko (25) scored more goals during the independence era.

Having snatched a draw in the match with Galatasaray, the Kiev club won its first point in the current Europa League. Previously, the “white-blues” suffered defeat in the first six rounds, as a result of which they prematurely lost their chances of reaching the playoffs.

Currently, “Dynamo” continues to be in the last, 36th place in the overall standings of the main round of the Europa League.

In the final round of the main stage of the Europa League, Shovkovskiy's charges will compete with the Latvian RFS. The match will take place on January 30 in Hamburg, Germany.
