Shakhtar legend Taras Stepanenko signs contract with new club

Ex-Shakhtar captain will continue his career in Turkey.

Former Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Taras Stepanenko has become a player for the Turkish Eyupspor.

The Turkish club officially announced the signing of the 35-year-old Ukrainian national team player on its social media pages.

It is noted that the contract with the player is for 1.5 years. Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.

Eyüpspor currently sit fourth in the Turkish Super League, with 36 points after 20 games played.

Stepanenko left Shakhtar after the last round of the main stage of the 2024/25 Champions League against Borussia Dortmund, the last time he took to the field in an orange-and-black shirt.

Taras has played for Shakhtar since July 2010 after moving from Metalurh Zaporizhia. He spent 15 years at the Donetsk club, played 439 games, scored 30 goals and won 25 trophies.
