Yastremska thrashes former world No.3 and reaches semifinals of Linz tournament

Ukrainian “clean” won the second set against her opponent.

Ukrainian tennis player Dajana Yastremska (No. 72 WTA) reached the semifinals of the WTA 500 tournament in Linz, Austria.

In the quarterfinals, the 24-year-old native of Odessa defeated former world number three Maria Sakkari (No. 31 WTA) from Greece.

The match lasted 1 hour and 21 minutes and ended with the Ukrainian’s triumph with a score of 7:5, 6:0.

During the time spent on the court, Yastremska served one aces, made one double fault, and converted 6 out of 10 break points.

For a place in the final, Dayana will face the winner of the match between Klara Tauson (Denmark, No. 39 WTA) and “neutral” Russian Anna Blinkova (No. 83 WTA), who knocked out Ukrainian Elina Svitolina in the second round (6:4, 6:4).

Yastremska reached the semifinals of a WTA tournament for the first time in a year. She last reached the semifinals at the 2024 Australian Open, where she lost to Chinese Zheng Qinwen.
