Oleksandra Merkushyna showed the best result among Ukrainians.
On Friday, January 31, the 2025 European Biathlon Championships in Martel Val Martello, Italy, continued with the women's sprint race.
Ukraine was represented by five biathletes: Anastasia Merkushina, Daryna Chalyk, Alexandra Merkushina, Liliya Steblina and Anna Krivonos.
The best result among the Ukrainians was shown by Alexandra Merkushina, who finished in 12th place with perfect shooting.
Two more Ukrainians made it into the top 40: Anastasia Merkushina (21st) and Liliya Steblina (32nd). Anna Krivonos withdrew from the race after five misses and did not finish.
Anna-Karin Heidenberg of Sweden became the European Champion in biathlon in the sprint. “Silver” was won by Frenchwoman Amandine Mengin, and “bronze” was won by Latvian Baiba Bendika.
