Donetsk “Shakhtar” suffered a crushing defeat to German “Hoffenheim” in the 1/16 finals of the UEFA Youth League. The match in the city of Sinsheim ended with a score of 5:1.

The German team opened the scoring in the 5th minute thanks to Diren Dagdeviren. In the 41st minute, the Miners were left in the minority – Yaroslav Milokost earned his second yellow card. In the 44th minute, the hosts strengthened their advantage – Melvin Onos converted a penalty.

At the start of the second half, Hoffenheim scored for the third time – in the 55th minute, Florian Micheler converted a penalty. In the 74th minute, Denis Smetana reduced the deficit of the “orange-blacks”.

However, then the German team scored twice more – a double was scored by Jamie Walling, who scored from play in the 82nd minute, and converted a penalty in the 90+4th.

It should be noted that the Donetsk team finished the match with eight men, because in the 87th and 90+4th minutes, Alexander Bashmarin and Viktor Tsukanov were sent off the field, receiving a second yellow card each.

Thus, Ukraine was left without representatives in the UEFA Youth League season. Earlier, Dynamo Kyiv was eliminated from the tournament, losing in a penalty shootout to Italy's Atalanta.
