The Catalans have knocked Atletico off the top of the Spanish league table.
Barcelona defeated Real Sociedad in a home match of the 26th round of the Spanish La Liga season 2024/25. The match at the Estadio Olimpico in Barcelona ended with a score of 4:0 .
Already at the start of the match, the visitors were left with a man down – in the 17th minute, defender Aritz Elustondo received a direct red card.
The Catalan club took advantage of their numerical advantage before the break: Gerard Martin and Marc Casado scored in the 25th and 29th minutes, respectively.
In the second half, the “blue garnets” brought the matter to a rout. In the 56th minute, Ronald Araujo made an accurate strike, and four minutes later, Robert Lewandowski set the final score of the game.

With this victory, Barcelona (57 points) returned to first place in La Liga. Hansi Flick's men are now one point ahead of Atletico and three points ahead of Real Madrid. The Basques (34 points) are in 9th place.
In the next round, Barcelona will host Osasuna on March 8, while Real Sociedad will play Sevilla at home a day later.
