The teams started the match intensely, but without opening up much. The first dangerous episode in the game was created by the hosts. Gittens passed the ball to Girassy in the opponent's penalty area for a striking position, but at the last moment the “bumblebee” striker was prevented from hitting Diakite with a sliding tackle.

However, Borussia soon opened the scoring. Aleksandro unsuccessfully kicked the ball straight to Adeyemi's foot, who, after a rebound from a corner, accurately shot under the left post – 1:0.

By the way, it was through Adeyemi that Dortmund developed most of their attacks. Gittens on the opposite flank of the attack could not compare with Karim in terms of effectiveness.

Schlottenberk could also have extended Borussia's advantage before the end of the half. Niko fired a powerful shot into the bottom corner after breaking into Lille's penalty area, but the centre-back's accuracy let him down.

The “dogs” started the second half in a completely different vein and managed to take control of the ball.

In defence, Kovac's men acted, as in previous games, extremely organised, but not flawless. In the 68th minute, Lille found a gap. David made a cutting pass to Haraldsson, who beat Kobel in a one-on-one.

Soon an unpleasant episode happened in the “Borussia” camp. Svensson got a knee injury. In addition to the left lateral, two more “bumblebee” players left the field (not because of injury), but the team's play did not change for the better because of this.

Dortmund didn't really want to open up even in the last minutes. Lille, in turn, was also completely satisfied with the draw. Everything will be decided in France, in the return match.
