The women's high jump final at the European Championships will take place on Sunday, March 9.
Ukrainian high jumper Yaroslava Mahuchikh has reached the final of the 2025 European Indoor Athletics Championships, which is taking place in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands.
Three Ukrainians competed in the qualification: in addition to Mahuchikh, our country was also represented by Yulia Chumachenko and Kateryna Tabashnik.
Of the Ukrainians, only Maguchikh managed to qualify for the final, clearing 1.89 m on her first attempt. Chumachenko and Tabashnik did not qualify.
In total, nine athletes reached the finals, having cleared the required height (1.89 m).
The women's high jump final at the 2025 European Indoor Championships will take place on Sunday, March 9, starting at 18:05 Kyiv time.
It should be noted that the qualification of men's high jump for Euro 2025 indoors took place the day before, where three Ukrainians competed: Oleh Doroshchuk, Dmitry Nikitin and Vadim Kravchuk. Doroshchuk and Nikitin qualified for the final, scheduled for Saturday, March 8, having cleared the bar of 2.23 m.
Let us recall that last season Maguchikh won gold at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, won gold at the European Championships and silver at the World Indoor Championships, and also became the Diamond League champion, winning all the stages in which she took part.
In early July 2024, Maguchikh broke the world record in women's high jump. At the Diamond League stage in Paris, the Ukrainian was the first in history to clear a height of 2.10 meters. Yaroslava surpassed the achievement of Bulgarian Stefka Kostadinova, who jumped 2.09 meters at the 1987 World Championships in Rome.
Following a successful season, Maguchikh was recognized as the best female athlete in the world in 2024. Yaroslava was also recognized as the best female athlete in Europe in 2024.
