Everton goalkeeper reveals he has seen a psychologist

  • The Everton goalkeeper revealed that he had been seeing a psychologist.

Jordan Pickford has admitted he has sought therapy after a dip in form and confidence.

According to the source, in his early years at Everton he was sometimes criticised for being too hasty or overly emotional.

“I remember in my career I had a slump and then I went to see a psychologist. I did a little work on who I wanted to be as a goalkeeper, what I wanted to achieve and where I wanted to go.

It also gave me a different perspective on goalkeeping. It all came together at that point,” Pickford said.

Pickford also recalled how the pressure affected him

“I was an inexperienced lad when I signed for Everton at 22 or 23. I had a really good season and then my form dropped a bit and the media started to get to me when I was younger. It affected me and I had to go back to the drawing board.

“I think over the last four or five seasons I've really become more consistent and I think what I'm doing is right for the club and the country.”

Jordan Pickford joined Everton in the 2017/18 season from Sunderland for €28.5 million.
