Biathlon: Results of the women's relay at the World Cup stage in Nove Mesto

The Ukrainian team finished 17th and was almost eliminated from the race as a round robin.

On Sunday, March 9, the seventh stage of the 2024/25 Biathlon World Cup in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic, ended with the women's relay.

Kristina Dmitrenko , Yulia Dzhima , Elena Gorodnaya and Alexandra Merkushina ran for the Ukrainian team. The “blue-yellows” finished 17th.

At the first stage, Dmitrenko missed four times in the prone shooting, going to one penalty loop, from which she emerged only in 19th position. At the standing position, Kristina used two additional cartridges, moving up to 18th place, where she passed the baton.

In the second stage, Dzhima failed the prone shooting and went into two penalty laps. In the standing position, Yulia worked flawlessly and rose from last to the penultimate place. She passed the baton in 20th place.

In the third stage, Gorodnaya shot cleanly in prone, raising the Ukrainian team to 18th place. Having shot perfectly in standing, Elena passed the baton to 17th – the last one remaining on the track.

In the final stage, Merkushyna went into one penalty loop after shooting prone. She ultimately finished 17th.

France won the women's relay, Norway came in second, and Germany rounded out the top three.

It should be noted that today in Nove Mesto a men's relay race also took place, where the Ukrainian team sensationally won “bronze”. For the “blue-yellows”, this is the first medal at the Biathlon World Cup level in three seasons.

The current biathlon World Cup season will end with stages in Pokljuka, Slovenia (March 13-16) and Holmenkollen, Norway (March 21-23).
