Two goals from the Ukrainian forward did not help the Greek club reach the quarter-finals of the tournament.
Olympiacos of Ukrainian striker Roman Yaremchuk beat Norwegian Bodo-Glimt at home in the return match of the 1/8 finals of the 2024/25 Europa League . The meeting at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium in Piraeus ended with a score of 2:1 .
In the first match, which took place a week ago in Norway, the Greek club suffered a crushing defeat (0:3). The second match also started in Bodo-Glimt's favor – Kasper Geg opened the scoring in the 36th minute.
Yaremchuk came on as a substitute immediately after the break. The 29-year-old Ukrainian forward quickly scored a brace, scoring goals in the 53rd and 65th minutes. In addition, Olympiacos defender Rodinei missed a penalty in the 63rd minute.
The score on aggregate of the two matches became 4:2 in favor of the Norwegian team. Before the final whistle, Olympiacos failed to level this gap and avoid elimination from the tournament.
It should be noted that the Greek team finished the match with one man down – goalkeeper Konstantinos Tsolakis received a direct red card in the 89th minute.
It was Bude-Glimt that advanced to the quarter-finals of the Europa League, where they will face the winner of the match between Viktoria Plzen (Czech Republic) and Lazio (Italy).
