Red Bull to announce Lawson replacement this week

Red Bull Racing intends to abandon cooperation with Liam Lawson and replace him with Yuki Tsunoda at the next Japanese Grand Prix, BBC Sport reports, citing insiders in the team.

The decision was reportedly made by Red Bull management at a meeting in Dubai. Formal confirmation of the team change is expected this week. Red Bull Racing declined to comment.

Red Bull is notorious for its tough attitude towards drivers in its junior programme who fail to live up to expectations in Formula 1. However, sacking a driver after just two Grands Prix would be a new “record” for the team's management.
