“Unexpected.” Hegai found reasons for defeat to Gonzalez in bloody fight

Arnold Khegai lost to American boxer

Ukrainian boxer Arnold Khegai spoke about the reasons for his defeat to Joet Gonzalez in a bloody fight. Arnold admitted that the American surprised him.

– Arnold, let's start with your loss to Joet Gonzalez in March. What went wrong?

– It was a surprise to me that I lost this fight, so to speak. I analyzed the match and came to the conclusion that it was my own fault, because I underestimated Gonzalez.

When I was preparing, I didn't have the right sparring partners. Plus, I was a bit uninspired. There was also the fact that we were fighting on his turf, in the US, where Joet had, apparently, 98% support from the spectators. They poured into the referee. The referee was in my way, to be honest. I felt it.

Usually, if I feel uncomfortable and the opponent bends over too much, I can clinch him, hold him and turn him towards the referee, asking him to stretch us. But here, as soon as I squeezed, I was immediately reprimanded and points were deducted. So the opponent sat low and hit me in the stomach with his head. Thus, I started a war with two people in the ring, – the boxer said.

It was previously reported that the Ukrainian boxer was suspended for a long period after a bloody fight.
