Cristiano Ronaldo, the 40-year-old forward for Al-Nassr and the Portugal national team, is approaching the historic milestone of 1000 official goals in his career. Currently, he has scored 933 goals, leaving him just 67 goals away from his desired target, reports the Baltimore Chronicle.

This season in the Saudi Pro League, Ronaldo continues to demonstrate impressive goal-scoring form, leading the league’s scoring charts with 23 goals. Last season, he finished with 35 goals, which was the highest tally in the league.

The comparison to the legendary Pele, who claimed to have scored 1279 goals, including unofficial matches, highlights the uniqueness of Ronaldo’s achievements. According to the RSSSF, Pele’s official tally stands at 778 goals.

Despite his age, Ronaldo maintains excellent physical condition and remains a key player for Al-Nassr. His contract with the club expires this summer, but an extension is expected, allowing him to continue his pursuit of the record.

For the national team, Ronaldo remains a figure that sparks debate. Some experts question his participation in future tournaments, while others, like Luís Figo, believe he could appear at the 2026 World Cup.

Ronaldo’s upcoming matches in the AFC Champions League, where his team is competing for a place in the semifinals, provide him with additional opportunities to increase his goal count.

Thus, Ronaldo continues to write his football history, drawing closer to yet another remarkable achievement in his career.
