Interim WBO heavyweight champion Fabio Wardley has sent a bold message to the undisputed world champion Oleksandr Usyk following his sensational victory over Joseph Parker. “A short message for Oleksandr Usyk? I’m coming, baby, I’m coming,” Wardley told Daily Mail Sport, reports Baltimore Chronicle with reference to Daily Mail Sport.
The fight between Wardley and Parker took place on the night of October 26. The British boxer secured a technical knockout in the 11th round, confidently dominating the final stages of the bout. This victory made Wardley the mandatory challenger for the WBO title currently held by Ukraine’s Oleksandr Usyk.
Earlier, the World Boxing Organization (WBO) ruled that Usyk must defend his title against the winner of the Parker–Wardley bout. Should the Ukrainian champion refuse to defend the belt, he risks being stripped of it — and with it, losing his undisputed world champion status.
Serhiy Lapin, the director of Usyk’s team, has already confirmed that the Ukrainian star plans to return to the ring in the first half of 2026. Usyk intends to defend his belts against Wardley, who became the mandatory contender after defeating Parker.
The last time Oleksandr Usyk entered the ring was in July this year, when he knocked out Britain’s Daniel Dubois, once again claiming the title of undisputed world champion. Usyk is the first Ukrainian boxer in history to have unified all major belts in two weight divisions — first in cruiserweight (up to 90.7 kg) and later in heavyweight.
