Spring 2026 will witness a historic boxing exhibition as two of the sport’s greatest stars from different eras, Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather Jr., face off in Africa, reports Baltimore Chronicle. Tyson, the legendary heavyweight, and Mayweather, the only boxer in history to retire with an unbeaten 50-0 record, will compete in an eight-round exhibition that promises to be one of the most spectacular sporting-entertainment events of recent decades. The match is already positioned as a potential record-breaker for audience attendance both in the stadium and online.

The exact city and stadium remain confidential, but organizers hint at one of South Africa’s largest venues. Likely candidates include FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, which holds 94,736 spectators, and Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban. The bout will consist of eight two-minute rounds, with larger-than-standard gloves and no impact on the fighters’ official professional records.

Ticket sales are set to begin in January 2026 on two main platforms: Ticketmaster Africa (ticketmaster.co.za) and the official CSI Sports website. Expected ticket prices are as follows:

  • Upper-tier seating: $500–$1,500
  • Middle sections and side stands closer to the ring: $2,000–$5,000
  • Premium ringside and adjacent seats: $8,000–$15,000
  • VIP boxes and full-service corporate packages: $20,000–$50,000

Local taxes of up to 15% and platform service fees will be added to all ticket prices.

Organizers promise not only an extraordinary sports event but also a cultural festival, featuring performances by African musicians, traditional dances, and a large-scale light show. The event has already been compared to the legendary 1974 Muhammad Ali vs. George Foreman fight in Zaire and is expected to surpass it in global attention.

March 2026 is set to become a landmark moment in boxing history as two eras collide on a single ring under the African sun.
