Fake TikTok Videos about “Children of War” and Law No. 268: What You Need to Know

Fake videos about “children of war” assistance circulate on TikTok. The Center for Counteracting Disinformation has debunked the false information.

Fake videos are circulating on TikTok, claiming that a resolution by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine No. 268 from August 1, 2025, grants children born after 2014 the status of “child of war” and the right to receive assistance of 12,600 UAH. To lend credibility to this information, the videos have been supplemented with fake websites of the “Diia” platform and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, reports Baltimore Chronicle, citing the Center for Counteracting Disinformation.

In reality, there is no resolution with such a number and date on the official website of the Ukrainian Parliament. Instead, there is the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine’s resolution No. 268/2025 from March 7, 2025, which addresses amendments to the regulations of the Unified State Web Portal for collecting donations to support Ukraine, called “United24.”

Such fake videos are being spread to manipulate public opinion, increase reach, and attract a larger audience for certain platforms. Similar false materials have appeared online before. In 2024, for example, there was misinformation circulating about Law No. 4995, allegedly stating that from September 1, children would receive 15,000 UAH monthly for three years.
