Norway allocates around seven billion crowns (approximately $695.7 million) for air defense systems for Ukraine, reports Baltimore Chronicle, citing an official government statement.
According to the information, the air defense systems will be supplied from Germany to Ukraine. Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre emphasized the importance of cooperation with Germany: “Together, we are ensuring that Ukraine receives powerful air defense systems. Norway and Germany are working closely to support Ukraine in its fight to protect its country and civilians from Russian aerial attacks.”
Norway and Germany will jointly finance two Patriot systems, including missiles for them. Additionally, Norway is involved in the purchase of radar stations for air defense from the German manufacturer Hensoldt and air defense systems from Kongsberg.
Norwegian Defense Minister Tore O. Sandvik also stated that air defense is crucial for protecting military units and infrastructure. “Now, together with Germany, we are intensifying our efforts even further,” Sandvik added.
