Discussion of the bill on changes to mobilization should be public. Ukrainians must understand what the vision of the military command is and how people's deputies propose to resolve issues arising in the Defense Forces.

This was stated by President Vladimir Zelensky, RBC-Ukraine reports with reference to his video message.

“Today a discussion has begun regarding the new rules of mobilization… It would be right that such rules are discussed and adopted not behind the scenes, but so that people understand what the vision of the military command is, what the motives are for certain rules and requirements proposed by deputies and how are the issues that our soldiers in the defense forces already have resolved,” Zelensky said.

As the president emphasized, the law is something that concerns everyone in the state.

“It would be correct if, on the basis of the Verkhovna Rada Committee, the military, together with the deputies, decided on exactly how the next year should be ensured at the legislative level for our Defense Forces. We are waiting for the final text of the law,” he added.

Bill on changes to mobilization

Yesterday evening, the Cabinet of Ministers submitted a bill on changes to mobilization to the Verkhovna Rada. The document, in particular, proposes lowering the age threshold for mobilization from 27 to 25 years, reducing the list of categories not subject to it, and also sending summons to the TCC by email.

The corresponding bill was introduced into parliament after Zelensky said at the final press conference that the General Staff had asked to additionally mobilize 450-500 thousand people. Then the president emphasized that in order to make such a decision there must be a comprehensive plan, which, among other things, would address the issue of the belligerents from the first day of a full-scale invasion.

In addition, today the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny commented on the bill on changes in mobilization.

The Commander-in-Chief also held a press conference today, at which, among other things, he answered questions about the demobilization of the military, the work of the TCC and the situation at the front.

RBC-Ukraine published Zaluzhny’s main statements from the press conference.
