Consumer Reports experts and experts determined the best model in the ten most popular classes on the U.S. market. They took into account reliability, owner satisfaction, safety based on independent crash tests, and road test results such as dynamics, handling, and fuel economy.

RBC-Ukraine reports this with reference to Consumer Reports.

The price in relation to competitors was also taken into account. As a result, the most reliable, safe, pleasant to drive and affordable models were chosen.

Japanese automakers won a convincing victory, with their cars winning in seven out of ten classes. The winner in the compact passenger car category is the Nissan Sentra sedan. Its main advantages are a wide range of safety systems already in the basic configuration and an excellent price-quality ratio.

In the mid-size passenger car class, the winner was the Toyota Camry: it demonstrated high comfort, practicality and economy thanks to its hybrid powertrain.

Subaru retained the subcompact and compact crossover classes, with the first Crosstrek and Forester models, respectively. The former was praised for its standard all-wheel drive, fuel economy, and excellent driving performance, while the new Forester was praised for its good sound insulation, spacious interior, and trunk. Its main and much more popular competitor, the Toyota RAV4 crossover, also did not go unnoticed.

The RAV4 PHEV hybrid was named the most fuel-efficient crossover. The third Toyota on the list of winners was the large Highlander Hybrid crossover, which demonstrated fuel economy on par with compact crossovers, while offering unmatched space and three rows of seats in the cabin.

The best compact premium crossover was the Lexus NX 350h, providing Toyota with almost half of the prize places in the rating. In the premium mid-size class, the BMW X5 won first place, becoming the only European model among the winners. The crossover won over the jury with an excellent balance of all qualities, especially dynamics, efficiency and rich interior trim.

The best electric car was expectedly the Tesla Model Y, which was noted for its excellent dynamics with a good driving range. Finally, in the compact pickup class, the economical and pleasant to drive Ford Maverick was first. These two models were the only “Americans” on the list of the best cars on the US market in 2025.
