The German automaker has shown the first official images and revealed technical details of the new electric crossover Mercedes-Benz GLC. The electric car is shown in the company's signature camouflage: the photos were taken during winter testing at the company's Swedish testing ground.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the press service of the car manufacturer.
The electric car will be called Mercedes-Benz GLC with EQ Technology. Even through the colorful camouflage film, it is noticeable that it will retain the familiar proportions and style of Mercedes-Benz crossovers, but will also acquire new details.
Judging by the opening of the trunk door, the body will be seriously redesigned: and although the second-generation gasoline GLC debuted only three years ago, the electric car could be a harbinger of a planned restyling of the model.
The Mercedes-Benz GLC with EQ Technology will have an 800-volt electrical system and support fast charging with a direct current of more than 320 kW. The basic version will get a single electric motor of its own design on the rear axle, and it has a two-stage gearbox, and the inverter is made on the basis of silicon carbide. The 4Matic version also has an electric motor on the front axle, a single-stage gearbox and the ability to completely turn off the power to save charge.
The total power of the two engines is 489 hp. The brake system uses an innovative universal module that combines a separate amplifier, master cylinder and ESP unit. This allowed the dimensions of the units to be reduced.
The traction battery with a capacity of 94.5 kWh guarantees a range of up to 650 km on a single charge. The standard heat pump integrated into the climate control system also works for range. Testing of the electric crossover Mercedes-Benz GLC continues, and its premiere is scheduled for September at the IAA exhibition in Munich. Although the new electric car will not enter the market until spring 2026.
