The Toyota Land Cruiser has become the favorite car of Japanese car thieves. According to the results of 2024, the model was the most stolen in the country, the Japan General Insurance Association reports.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Carscoops.
In just one year, 688 of these SUVs were stolen from Japanese car owners, which is almost twice as many as in 2023, when 383 cases of theft of these cars were recorded.
Insurers cite statistics showing that every fourth car stolen in Japan last year was a Toyota Land Cruiser. Moreover, the top three list includes two more Toyota models – the Alphard and the Prius.
Next in fourth and fifth place is the Lexus LX and RX, followed by the Crown sedan in sixth, the Hiace and Velfire minivans in seventh and eighth, the Lexus LS in ninth place, and the Toyota Voxy rounds out the anti-rating. That is, the top 10 for car thefts in Japan includes exclusively Toyota and Lexus cars. A total of 2,499 cars were stolen in Japan in 2024.
