Tech giant Apple is offering the M4 Macbook Air for $999 and $1,199. The price depends on the display diagonal: the first is for 13.6 inches, the second is for 15.3 inches. The laptop is available for pre-order, and their sales will begin on March 12.
Features of the new product from Apple
In short, the new MacBook Air is a subtle but noticeable step up from the M3 and M2, offering a performance boost thanks to the M4 chip and a 10-core processor (compared to the M3's 8 cores). Aesthetically, the M4's silhouette is the same as the M3, though many will probably prefer the new “Sky Blue” color option, an attractive metallic shade that comes with a color-coordinated MagSafe charging cable.

With a lower starting price, this is a good opportunity for Apple users who are currently using Macbooks with the M1 chip or older to upgrade. With new processors and support for up to 32GB of combined memory, the M4 is twice as fast as the M1 model and provides a 23x performance boost compared to the fastest Intel-based Macbook Air (2020). The Neural Engine also speeds up AI-based tasks by 3x compared to the M1. For PC users, web browsing is said to be 60% faster than on laptops with Intel Ultra 7 processors. While demanding tasks get a 2x performance boost.
One of the notable hardware upgrades is the 12MP Center Stage camera. It automatically keeps the user in the center of the frame as they move, and features Desk View, which can simultaneously display the user and a top-down view of their desktop. The M4 is also built for Apple Intelligence, allowing users to take advantage of all its amazing features. For example, Image Playground, Genmoji, new dynamic writing tools, and improvements to Siri.
As with the Macbook Air M3, battery life is an impressive 18 hours, considering its width and weight. The Liquid Retina display, backlit Magic Keyboard, and Touch ID remain the same. And dual Thunderbolt 4 ports now support two external displays in addition to the Macbook Air’s built-in display. Previously, two external displays could only be used when the lid was closed.
