Russia is complaining about the biggest drone attack since the war. Moscow and the Moscow region were the main targets, and in the Ryazan region the military airfield “Dyagilevo” was in the crosshairs.
RBC-Ukraine has collected everything that is known about the large-scale attack on the Russian Federation in this article.
Updated 10:05 . The death toll in the Moscow region of the Russian Federation has risen to two.
The attack began at about four o'clock in the morning local time. Moscow and the Moscow region were the main target of the strikes. But the so-called work of air defense systems was reported in the Kursk, Lipetsk, Bryansk, Belgorod and Ryazan regions.
The Russian Telegram channel ASTRA, citing eyewitnesses, writes that the target of the attack in the Ryazan region could have been the Dyagilevo military airfield. In total, the Russian Defense Ministry counted 337 “shot down” drones that night.
Moscow and Moscow region
Due to the massive “bang”, Russians have introduced a “carpet” regime (which provides for temporary restrictions on the arrival and departure of aircraft) in all capital airports . We are talking about Vnukovo, Zhukovsky and Domodedovo airports.
As for the latter, the drone fell near the airport. According to pro-Kremlin media, the drone fell on the territory of a distribution center in Domodedovo called Miratorg. One of its employees (a security guard) died, and three others were injured. A fire broke out in the parking lot there.
In addition, due to damage to the railway tracks, some trains through Domodedovo station were cancelled.
Also, debris from downed drones hit multi-story buildings, private homes, and cars. In particular, there was noise in the city of Vidnoye (where debris fell on a residential complex) and the villages of Vysoky Bereg and Aleksandrovka (Moscow Region). Debris also fell in Moscow, in particular on Domodedovskaya Street. Another drone hit a multi-story building in the city of Ramenskoye and crashed into a cottage.
In addition, the drone's debris, Mash writes, also fell into a forest park in the Moscow district of Kapotnya, where the Gazpromneft oil refinery is located.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin spent almost the entire night “announcing” the so-called “shooting down” of drones that were constantly flying into the city. According to him, 73 drones were allegedly shot down as they approached Moscow.
“The most massive attack of enemy UAVs on Moscow has been repelled. 74 UAVs were shot down on approach to Moscow, and there are hundreds of combat drones at different points,” Sobyanin wrote.
He did not report any casualties in Moscow. However, he confirmed that drone debris had fallen in Ramenskoye, Domodedovo, and on Domodedovskaya Street.
Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobyov initially reported one dead and three injured, but later the number of injured rose to 20. According to him, at least seven apartments were damaged in the Moscow Region.
Other regions of the Russian Federation
The Russian Defense Ministry said that this attack was the most massive in 2025. According to the enemy department, 91 drones were “destroyed” over the Moscow region, 38 over the Bryansk region, 25 over the Belgorod region. Another 22 UAVs were shot down over the Ryazan region, 10 over the Kaluga region, 8 each over the Lipetsk and Oryol regions.
Also, six drones were destroyed over the Voronezh region, and three more over the Nizhny Novgorod region. According to the Russians, the largest number of UAVs were shot down over the past night over the Kursk region – 126.
It is noteworthy that the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, Andrei Kovalenko, reported that drones struck the Kursk region last night, where Russian troops have recently gone on the offensive.
Also, Kovalenko confirmed that Moscow was under attack, as well as the military airfield in Dyagilevo in the Ryazan region of the Russian Federation.
One injured person was reported in the Lipetsk region. As the region's governor Igor Artamonov said, “the victim stopped specifically to look at the drone.”
Meanwhile, in the Belgorod region, 36 settlements in the Krasnoyarsk and Rakityansky districts were left without electricity after a drone attack. A residential building caught fire in the village of Valuyki
In addition, in the Kaluga region, after a drone fell, a building caught fire and windows were broken in a residential building.
The peculiarity of this attack, judging by the footage that the Russians are distributing online, is that this time there was a lot of damage to civilian objects, in particular residential buildings. This is exactly what the occupiers do against Ukraine every night, launching their drones and missiles at peaceful Ukrainian cities.
It is cynical that the Russian Investigative Committee has already opened a criminal case under the article “terrorist act.” Although terrorist Russia itself sends its attack drones to homes every night, and also carries out massive combined strikes on Ukraine's critical infrastructure, in particular on energy facilities.
Previously, the largest drone attack on Russian regions was the attack on January 14, when the Ministry of Defense reported 180 “shot down” drones. In particular, the Moscow region was also under attack.
Let us recall that last year alone, the Ukrainian Unmanned Systems Forces carried out about 130 operations, and Ukrainian drones hit 377 objects on the territory of the Russian Federation.
As Commander-in-Chief Alexander Syrsky reported, the range of Deep Strike into Russian territory has already reached 1.7 thousand km, and Ukraine continues to prepare new long-range weapons.
“We are striking the enemy from a distance, increasing strikes on his territory. Military units, arsenals, storage facilities, workshops of military-industrial complex enterprises, oil refineries, other energy and logistics facilities that Russia uses in the war against us are the objects of our actions,” the commander-in-chief declared.
In preparing the material, the following publications were used: the head of the CPD Andrey Kovalenko, Meduza, Agency, Telegram channels of the Russian Defense Ministry, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, as well as other data from Russian publics.
