Ganul murder suspect pleads guilty in court, sources say

The suspect in the murder of activist Demyan Ganul admitted his guilt in court. This happened during a hearing to select a preventive measure on March 16.

RBC-Ukraine reports this with reference to its own sources.

The publication's source reported that suspect Sergei Shalayev admitted his guilt in the murder of Demyan Ganul during the court hearing.

Murder of activist Ganul

Let us recall that the murder of activist Demyan Ganul took place on the afternoon of March 14 in the center of Odessa. The attacker shot at the public figure and fled the scene.

The measures taken by the National Police of Ukraine and the SBU detained him within five hours. The suspect was 46-year-old serviceman Sergey Shalayev from the Kyiv region, who was wanted for unauthorized abandonment of a military unit.

The Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have already responded to the involvement of a serviceman in the murder of Demyan Ganul.

Let us note that earlier today a preventive measure was chosen for the suspect in the murder of activist Ganul.
