US President Donald Trump may impose sanctions against Russia if his talks with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin fail.

As reported by RBC-Ukraine, White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt stated this at a briefing.

In her opinion, Ukraine and Russia are now “on the 10-yard line” to peace, and the countries “have never been closer to a peace agreement than they are now.”

“The President (Trump – ed.) is determined to achieve this,” Leavitt emphasized.

At the same time, journalists asked her whether Trump would consider imposing sanctions against Russia if his call with Putin tomorrow was not successful.

“The president has spoken about it, and of course he is prepared to do it if necessary,” Leavitt replied.

Trump and Putin talks

Recall that US President Donald Trump previously announced that tomorrow, March 18, he would speak on the phone with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov confirmed information about possible negotiations between Trump and Putin.

According to Peskov, the very first issue will be the settlement of Russia’s war against Ukraine.

It is worth noting that Trump and Putin already spoke on the phone in February. Then they had a long conversation.
