Mazda has unveiled its new “Asset Leaning Strategy” to improve manufacturing efficiency and reduce costs through strategic partnerships. The strategy also includes the first details of the new Mazda CX-5.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the Mazda press service.

The Japanese automaker also scaled back its planned investment in electric vehicles while unveiling a new SkyActiv-Z engine that is set to debut by the end of 2027 in a hybrid configuration under the hood of the next-generation CX-5.

The company has dubbed the period up to 2030 the “dawn of electrification.” It is noted that, depending on customer demand, the brand will continue to offer a combination of models with internal combustion engines, hybrids and electric vehicles.

The automaker also cut its planned investment in electrification to $10 billion from $13.3 billion, a move made possible by partnerships with Changan, Toyota, Denso and BluE Nexus.

In addition, by producing electric and combustion engine vehicles on the same production line, investment can be reduced by 85% compared to building a new plant dedicated exclusively to electric vehicles.

Mazda is also paying significant attention to its upcoming SkyActiv-Z powertrain. The first vehicle to be equipped with this new engine will be the next-generation CX-5, where it will be paired with a hybrid system developed in-house. According to the company, the new engine will have high fuel efficiency and performance. In addition, SkyActiv-Z complies with the strict Euro 7 emissions standards.
