Toyota has updated the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 SUV, which was introduced four years ago. The first market for the upgraded car was Japan.

RBC-Ukraine reports this with reference to the company’s press service.

For example, analog instruments with a 7-inch display are now included in the basic configuration. Previously, this was an option, and a 4.2-inch screen was installed as standard. Medium and expensive versions now boast full-fledged virtual instruments on a 12.3-inch screen.

Similar changes have occurred with the media system. Previously, simple versions had a 7- or 9-inch screen. Now, the Land Cruiser 300 is equipped with an eight-inch screen. Expensive versions, as before, have a widescreen 12.3-inch screen.

The central console now has a shelf for small items, although previously there was a CD/DVD player slot here. Instead, there is an HDMI connector for connecting external devices with movies and music. In addition, the Land Cruiser 300 is equipped with an improved automatic braking system, which better recognizes cyclists on the road, and a video recorder has been added to the basic package.

It has recently emerged that the Land Cruiser has topped the list of the most stolen cars in Japan for four years in a row. That's why Toyota has prepared several additional levels of protection against theft. From now on, all cars have a fingerprint scanner on the engine start button. An additional check of the smart key's location before starting has also been added. Finally, the My Car Start Lock function has been added, which can turn off the engine remotely directly from an app on a smartphone. Of course, the SUV must be connected to the Internet for this.

The only change in the power plant concerns the 3.3-liter V6 turbodiesel (307 hp, 700 Nm), which now complies with the latest Japanese environmental standards. The 3.4-liter V6 biturbo gasoline engine (415 hp, 650 Nm) has not changed, the transmission in both versions is the same – a 10-speed automatic and permanent all-wheel drive.

In Japan, the updated Toyota Land Cruiser 300 costs from $35,000 for the gasoline GX to $54,000 for the diesel GR Sport. However, orders are currently suspended as the company needs time to fulfill its already huge backlog of orders.
