Audi has unveiled a plug-in hybrid version of the A5 model. The new model is built on the PPC (Premium Platform Combustion) platform. The Audi A5 e-hybrid is offered with two body types – a liftback or a station wagon.

The power plant is based on a 2.0 TFSI petrol turbo engine with a capacity of 252 hp and a seven-speed “robot” S tronic. An electric motor with a peak power of 143 hp is built into the gearbox housing. The total output of the entire system depends on the modification: 300 hp and 450 Nm or 367 hp and 500 Nm. The drive is always full. In the first case, acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h takes 5.9 seconds, and in the second – 5.1 seconds. The maximum speed of both versions is 250 km / h.
The traction battery with an effective capacity of 20.7 kWh is installed under the boot floor. In purely electric mode, the Audi A5 e-hybrid liftback can accelerate to 140 km/h and travel up to 116 km on a single charge. The maximum power of the on-board charger is 11 kW. Interestingly, the new product has a recuperation system with a capacity of up to 88 kW.
There are two driving modes to choose from – EV and hybrid. In the first case, maximum priority is given to the electric motor (up to the complete discharge of the battery), and the hybrid mode uses the gasoline engine more. It charges the battery at a speed above 65 km / h, while the charge level does not rise above 75%. To get the maximum charge, you need to connect to a socket.
The traction battery inevitably reduced the trunk volume: 331 liters for the liftback and 361 liters for the station wagon (versus 445 liters and 476 liters for non-hybrid cars). Otherwise, except for the badges, the petrol-electric versions of the e-hybrid are similar to the petrol and diesel Audi A5. In Germany, prices for plug-in hybrids start at 62,500 euros for the liftback and from 64,150 euros for the station wagon. Orders in Europe will be accepted on March 27.
