Ukrainian military captured Chinese citizens during fighting in Donetsk Oblast. They managed to obtain their documents and identify their identities.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to President Volodymyr Zelensky during a press conference with Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever.
The Chinese were captured near the settlements of Tarasovka and Belogorovka. There, Ukrainian soldiers engaged in combat with six Chinese soldiers, two of whom were captured.
“Accordingly, there are documents, there are their passports, there are even credit cards. These are citizens of China. I think that this is a very important element. I think that the US needs to pay more attention to what is happening today,” the president said.
In his opinion, this event is confirmation that yet another country is militarily supporting Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
“This is another one after Iran and the North Korean military. But there are differences. The North Koreans fought against us in the Kursk direction. The Chinese are fighting on the territory of Ukraine. And I think that this is an important point that we need to discuss with our partners. I think it is urgent,” Zelensky said.
According to him, despite the fact that Ukraine is a strong country, it cannot simultaneously fight with many countries, all of which need something on our land. Zelensky hopes that after this situation, the United States will strengthen its cooperation with Ukraine and will talk to the Russian side.
“We really hope that the Chinese side will also respond. I have instructed the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of Defense to contact the Chinese counterparts so that they can give us an explanation for their actions,” he said.
