The total tariff on Chinese goods imported into the United States following yesterday's decision by US President Donald Trump is 145%.
RBC-Ukraine reports this with reference to CNBC.
A White House spokesman explained that Trump's latest order, which was signed yesterday, April 9, increases tariffs on Beijing to 125% from 84%.
But that's on top of the 20% fentanyl tariff Trump previously imposed on China.
Thus, according to the White House, the tariff on imports of Chinese goods into the United States as a whole was increased to 145%.
China-US Trade War
Note that Donald Trump imposed tariffs on imported goods earlier this month, causing international economic tension. Initially, the tariffs affected almost all countries, including China, which responded with similar measures.
This has somewhat strained trade relations between Washington and Beijing. China, for its part, imposed tariffs on American goods of 84% yesterday, April 9.
More details about China's response to American tariffs can be found in the RBC-Ukraine article.
Notably, yesterday Trump announced a 90-day pause for all countries except China to allow time for negotiations and avoid further escalation.
However, for China, “for disrespect,” Trump increased tariffs to 125%.
