Apple is preparing to revive the trend of crossbody straps with a new accessory designed for the upcoming iPhone 17 lineup. The company from Cupertino is working on the Crossbody Strap, a magnetic shoulder strap for smartphones, which is expected to debut during the official presentation on September 9. The details were revealed by well-known insider Majin Bu, reports Baltimore Chronicle.

The accessory will feature a flexible metal core, allowing magnets to hold it securely along its entire length. The fastening system is also magnetic: the strap will be threaded through a dedicated slot in the iPhone case and locked by connecting two magnetic rings together. This design removes the need for hooks or loops.

The materials of the Crossbody Strap are inspired by the sporty Apple Watch Loop band. The main version will be made of thin woven nylon fabric, while a silicone option is also being considered.

The strap will be released alongside the iPhone 17 series and is expected to be compatible not only with Apple’s original cases but possibly also with the new AirPods Pro 3 case. The price remains undisclosed, though insiders suggest it could retail at around $20.
