The United States has announced a reward of up to $6 million for information that will help arrest three Russian nationals who are executives of the Garantex cryptocurrency exchange. The exchange specializes in trading rubles for stablecoins and was used to bypass sanctions imposed on Russia, reports Baltimore Chronicle, citing a statement from the U.S. Department of State published on August 14.
A $5 million reward will be given for information about one of the leaders of the exchange, Alexander Mira Serdu, also known by the alias Ntifo-Siao. An additional $1 million is offered for information about other executives of Garantex, including Pavel Karavatsky and Sergey Mendeleev. On the same day, the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) added these three individuals to the SDN list, a roster of people fully isolated from the U.S. financial system.
