U.S. President Donald Trump has called on the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to revoke the licenses of ABC and NBC, accusing them of being biased against Republicans and conservatives. The American leader made this statement on his social media platform, Truth Social. Trump said, “Why aren’t these two most biased and worst TV companies in the world paying millions of dollars in annual licensing fees?” He further expressed that these companies should lose their licenses for unfair coverage of Republicans and conservatives. According to him, even if that doesn’t happen, they should be charged substantial fees for the privilege of using valuable airwaves. “Dishonest journalism should not be rewarded; it must be stopped!” Trump emphasized, reports Baltimore Chronicle with reference to Truth Social.
The president also noted that, despite the very high popularity and, in the opinion of many, some of the best months in the history of his presidency, ABC and NBC deliver 97% negative news coverage about him. Trump stated that these networks are effectively part of the Democratic Party, and therefore, he believes they should have their licenses revoked. He added: “They are such a threat to our democracy, we cannot allow them to continue operating in this manner!”
It is also worth noting that in June, Trump criticized CNN and The New York Times over reports claiming that U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities did not destroy the main components of Tehran’s nuclear program, but only delayed it for several months.
Earlier we wrote that Trump compared his meeting with Putin to Nixon’s Moscow visit during the Cold War.
