Tomorrowland 2025 Opens in Boom Despite Main Stage Fire

Despite a massive fire that destroyed the main stage, Tomorrowland 2025 has officially kicked off in Boom, Belgium, with cleanup continuing until the last minute.

Tomorrowland 2025 has officially begun in the Belgian town of Boom, just days after a fire destroyed the festival’s main stage. The electronic music event opened Friday against the backdrop of a charred stage frame, reports Baltimore Chronicle.

Cleanup crews worked non-stop, day and night, right up to the festival’s opening, clearing debris left by the blaze that broke out Wednesday evening. The cause of the fire remains unknown, and thankfully, no injuries were reported. However, the blaze nearly obliterated the main stage—a complex structure developed by 32 artists from around ten different countries.

In place of the destroyed setup, organizers installed an improvised stage. The Australian duo Nervo were the first to perform there, shouting “We made it!” before launching the first track of Tomorrowland 2025.

Debby Wilmsen, a spokesperson for the organizing team, described the replacement stage as “very intimate,” equipped with the same sound systems used during performances by Metallica.

Tomorrowland attracts roughly 400,000 visitors each year. This weekend’s lineup includes performances by over 600 DJs and artists across various festival stages.
