Former Ukrainian presidential advisor Oleksiy Arestovych has been re-listed in Russia’s search database on charges of terrorism and spreading fake news about the Russian army.

Former advisor to the Office of the President of Ukraine, Oleksiy Arestovych, has been re-listed in the Russian search database, reports Baltimore Chronicle with reference to Russian media. He had previously already been included in the Russian wanted list.

According to Russian sources, information about the search appeared in the database of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, stating that the grounds for the search were based on a specific article of the Russian Criminal Code. A criminal case has been initiated against Arestovych on charges of terrorism and spreading “fake news about the Russian army.”

In October 2023, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs had already placed Arestovych on the wanted list, and in May of the same year, Rosfinmonitoring added him to the list of terrorists and extremists, suspecting him of involvement in terrorism. In addition, in 2022, fake authorities of the “DNR General Prosecutor’s Office” and Belarus filed criminal cases against him for allegedly calling for extremism.

On September 8, 2023, Arestovych was listed as wanted, and on November 13, 2023, he was placed on the international wanted list.

Recently, Arestovych gave an interview to Russian TV presenter Ksenia Sobchak, stating that if elected President of Ukraine, he would be ready to hand over four regions and Crimea to Russia. He also outlined his “peace plan,” which he believes could end the war.
