Zelensky signed a law on the legalization of medical cannabis

President Vladimir Zelensky signed a law on the legalization of medical cannabis.

Ukrinform reports this with reference to data in the legislative act card published on the parliament website.

It is noted that Zelensky signed the law No. 3528-IX" On the regulation of the circulation of plants of the hemp genus (Cannabis) for medical, industrial purposes, scientific and scientific-technical activities to create conditions for expanding patient access to the necessary treatment of cancer and post-traumatic stress disorders resulting from the war” February 13.

As Ukrinform reported, on December 21, 2023, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the Law “On regulating the circulation of plants of the hemp genus (Cannabis) for medical, industrial purposes, scientific and scientific-technical activities to create conditions for expanding patient access to the necessary treatment of oncological diseases and post-traumatic stress disorders resulting from the war.

On December 22, people's deputies from the parliamentary faction "All-Ukrainian Association "Motherland" registered in the Verkhovna Rada a draft resolution to cancel the Verkhovna Rada’s decision to adopt this law. Registration of such a project blocked the signing of the adopted legislative act by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada and the President.

On January 16, 2024, the Verkhovna Rada unblocked the signing of the law on the legalization of medical cannabis.
