Ukrainian hospitals received modern equipment for diagnosing resistant tuberculosis

Ukrainian medical institutions received 900 sets of Xpert MTB/XDR cartridges for detecting the DNA of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, performed on updated GeneXpert systems.

The Ministry of Health reports this, Ukrinform reports.

"GeneXpert is an automatic system for molecular diagnostics using a disposable cartridge, completely isolated from the environment. This allows you to use the device in ordinary premises without setting up a PCR laboratory. Thanks to the introduction of a new molecular genetic test in Ukraine, it is possible to quickly and accurately diagnose TV in the early stages and reduce cases of its further manifestation,” the statement says.

The supply of equipment took place within the framework of cooperation between the Ministry of Health, the Center for Public Health and Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

XpertMTB/XDR — This is an innovative technique in the diagnosis of drug-resistant tuberculosis. Modern equipment will allow you to respond effectively and prescribe an effective treatment regimen for patients in a short time. As Ukrinform reported, in January 2024, the laboratories of the Public Health Center and regional centers for disease control and prevention received modern equipment that will improve virological diagnostics.
