Last year, almost 41 thousand patients received free treatment for heart attacks – NHSU

Almost 41 thousand patients received free treatment for heart attack under the Medical Guarantee Program last year.

The National Health Service reported this on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

“40,732 heart attack patients received inpatient medical care under the Medical Guarantee Program in 2023. Free medical care for heart attacks is provided in institutions that have an agreement with the National Health Service for a package of medical services. To date, 73 hospitals in Ukraine have been contracted in the direction of “Medical care for acute myocardial infarction,” the report says.

A patient with a suspected heart attack does not need a doctor's referral or a declaration to receive medical care free of charge. This is an emergency condition and the person will be taken to the necessary medical facility by an emergency medical team. Medical care is also free of charge for self-referrals and transfers from another hospital.

The full list of medical services is published on the NHSU website in the section Contracting/SMG-2024 Requirements/item 7/link.

The address and contacts of the nearest medical institutions that have a corresponding agreement with the NHSU can be found out from the contact center operator at 16-77 or using the dashboard “Agreements have been concluded for medical care of the population under the medical guarantee program.”

As Ukrinform reported, in 2024, a new package for infertility treatment was included in the Medical Guarantee Program. The National Health Service has contracted 12 health facilities for this package.
