During two years of war, Russia destroyed and damaged more than 1,700 medical facilities

During two years of a full-scale war, Russia damaged and destroyed 1,736 medical institutions in Ukraine.

This was reported by the Ministry of Health, Ukrinform reports.

“The Russian army continues to attack Ukrainian civilian infrastructure, including medical institutions, thereby creating additional stress on the Ukrainian medical system. In addition, the enemy shells and bombs peaceful cities and civilians every day. In particular, during this time Russia damaged 1,535 medical facilities and completely destroyed another 201 facilities. We are talking specifically about Ukrainian outpatient clinics, clinics, maternity hospitals, clinics, etc.,” the message emphasizes.

As noted in the Ministry of Health, medical institutions in the Kharkov, Donetsk, Nikolaev, Kyiv, Chernigov, Dnepropetrovsk, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions suffered the most. It is still impossible to obtain comprehensive information about the extent of destruction of medical institutions in the temporarily occupied territories.

Also, during two years of war, Russia damaged 103 emergency medical vehicles, destroyed 258 and captured 125 emergency vehicles. According to the Ministry of Health, at the end of February 2024, it was possible to completely restore 508 medical facilities, another 360 mdash; partially rebuilt or in the process of renovation. First of all, we are talking about medical institutions in de-occupied territories, as well as those that received minor damage, such as broken windows, destruction of the roof, damage to the facade, etc. Kharkov and Chernihiv regions.

As reported, as of February 19, the number of medical institutions damaged and destroyed by the occupiers in Ukraine was 1,722.
