The Khmelnytsky Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported this on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

“An outbreak of intestinal infection has been registered in the Khmelnytskyi region. The event was recorded in one of the communities in the Khmelnitsky region. All patients – ndash; adults, residents of Khmelnitsky. Preliminary diagnosis – “Acute gastroenterocolitis?”, “Foodborne toxic infection?”, the message says.

It is noted that the first patient felt unwell on February 24. Over the next two days, ten more people sought medical help. All with the same symptoms: high body temperature, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, severe abdominal pain and exhaustion.

People reported that they visited one of the catering establishments on February 23.

Currently Currently, 8 patients were hospitalized in the Khmelnytsky Infectious Diseases Hospital, 1 patient is in the infectious diseases department of the Izyaslav Multidisciplinary Hospital. All of them are in a state of moderate severity. Two victims refused hospitalization and are undergoing outpatient treatment.

The Khmelnytsky Regional Clinical Hospital reported that on February 26, center specialists began an epidemiological investigation into the outbreak of infection. They conducted a bacteriological examination, took samples of food products, water and swabs from environmental objects.

The establishment was disinfected. In addition, they organized medical surveillance of contacts in home cells.

The epidemiological investigation continues.

As Ukrinform reported, after the students were poisoned in Poltava, they checked the canteen where they could eat and found violations there , in particular E. coli in dishes.
