Photo A unique operation on osseointegration prosthetics was performed at the Vinnitsa Regional Clinical Hospital named after Pirogov. This is a new direction that allows increasing the patient’s mobility and speeding up his rehabilitation after amputation.

The medical institution reported this on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

“An operation of osseointegration prosthetics, unique for domestic medicine, was carried out on the basis of the Vinnytsia Regional Clinical Hospital named after M.I. Pirogov,” the message says. It is noted that this technique is innovative for Ukraine. Now only a few have been carried out in Ukraine such operations.

The hospital informed that osseointegration prosthetics involves the implantation of an intraosseous implant into the bone of the patient’s amputated limb, to the outer part of which the components of the prosthesis are subsequently fixed. The advantage of such prosthetics is that it returns sensitivity to the patient. That is, the patient can feel and distinguish the surfaces on which he steps. One of the leading specialists in the world is helping Vinnytsia doctors introduce a new direction of prosthetics – Australian orthopedic traumatologist Munied Al Muderis. He has already performed about one and a half thousand such operations around the world, and his patients lead an active lifestyle and work without restrictions.

You can take your first steps on implanted prostheses already on the second day after the operation, and after six weeks. – walk fully.

As Ukrinform reported, in Ukraine, for the first time, a prosthesis was implanted directly into the bone, the patient was a veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
