"Over the past week (February 26 – March 3), people fell ill with acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI), including influenza and COVID-19 155,381 people, of which 88,364 — children. 2,022 adults and 2,560 children were hospitalized in health care facilities, the report says. 9.3%, and among children under 17 years of age -; by 1.6%.
In the period from February 26 to March 3, three people died as a result of complications of influenza: in the Poltava region (person’s age was 64 years old), in the Ivano-Frankivsk region (59 years old) and in the Sumy region (71 years old). Also, 1,797 people were diagnosed with COVID-19. The largest number of cases was recorded in Rivne, Khmelnytsky and Ivano-Frankivsk regions. 550 adults and 87 children were hospitalized. 30 people who tested positive for COVID-19 died.
In total, during the epidemic season (from October 2, 2023 to March 3, 2024), 3,443,811 people (9.6% of the country’s population) have already been ill with ARVI ), which is 32.3% more than the same period in the 2022-2023 season. The number of cases of COVID-19 during this time reached 145,516.
In total, 61 Ukrainians have died from complications of influenza since the beginning of the season, among them – – two children. Also, 793 people who died, including four children under the age of 17, tested positive for COVID-19.
The Ministry of Health reminded that in 2024, vaccinations against COVID-19 remain free of charge for everyone Ukrainians and are available in every region.
