Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia has damaged or destroyed 1,740 medical institutions in Ukraine.
The Ministry of Health reports this, reports Ukrinform.
«During the full-scale invasion war in Ukraine, Russia, as a result of constant shelling and bombing of civilian infrastructure, damaged or destroyed 1,740 medical facilities. In particular, 1,537 of them were damaged, and 203 were completely destroyed. We are talking about Ukrainian outpatient clinics, clinics, maternity hospitals, etc. ” – the message notes.
Medical institutions were most damaged in the Kharkov, Donetsk, Nikolaev, Kiev, Chernihiv, Dnepropetrovsk, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. It is not yet possible to obtain comprehensive information on the degree of destruction of medical institutions in the temporarily occupied territories.
In addition, Russia damaged 139 emergency medical vehicles, destroyed 256 and captured 125 emergency vehicles.
According to the Ministry of Health, by the beginning of March 2024, 509 medical facilities had been completely restored, and another 357 — partially rebuilt or in the process of renovation. First of all, we are talking about medical institutions in de-occupied territories, as well as those that received minor damage, such as broken windows, destruction of the roof, damage to the facade, etc. in the Mykolayiv region, Dnipropetrovsk region, Kiev region, Kharkov region and Chernihiv region.
As reported, in the Chernihiv region, the Chernihiv central regional hospital will be restored, which received serious damage in early 2022 as a result of Russian airstrikes and bombings.
